M&C Clothing and Gifts Consignment Process

Consignment Process

The information on this page is designed to help you make the most of each consignment drop-off.  If you are choosy about what you bring, and we are choosy about what we accept, customers will feel excited to shop for top-quality and unique finds, and your items will sell!

Together, we keep money local, are kinder to the planet and to people, and we have fun.

Our Currently Accepting list changes monthly, please check it before your scheduled consignment appointment or call the store to confirm what we are / are not currently accepting 603-886-6727.

BOOK APPOINTMENT

Consignment Process

The Process

All Consignments are done by Appointment Only:

• We offer 2 types of Consignment Appointments: Drop-Off and/or In-Person.

• You can schedule a Drop-Off appointment. On the date/time of your appointment, you would come to the store and go to the In-Takes area, fill out a Yellow Consignment Agreement Slip, place it in your bag and place your bag in the Green Bins.

• You can also schedule an In-Person appointment.  When scheduling an In-Person appointment, please add “in-person” next to your name.  On the date/time of your appointment, you would come to the store and go to the In-Takes area, fill out a Yellow Consignment Agreement Slip and one of associates will process your items with you and you can take back or donate items not accepted.

• After your scheduled appointment happens, you will receive an email from us within a 2-week period alerting you of the items accepted and the retail price that they will be placed out on the selling floor.

Things to Consider when Deciding on what to Consign:

• Bring a maximum of 20 items per appointment. To be fair to all of our consignors, we allow 1 scheduled appointment per week.

• Please fill out the Yellow Consignment Agreement Slip at the In-Takes area of the store with your name, cell phone and email address.

• Current style, good quality, like-new or gently worn condition only, items must not be older than 2-3 years, please: no stains, signs of wear and/or odor.

• Items must retail for $20 or more. You must be ready to totally let go of these items.

• Designer/High-End items will need to be authenticated by the staff who has been trained to do this. Please call ahead to confirm that someone will be available to look at it.

• Please empty and clean every pocket.

• No hangers, please and thank you.

• Items must be freshly cleaned.

• Clothing must be neatly folded into a bag.

• We no longer have a “No Thank You Brands” list as it is impossible to maintain. Here is a much simpler way to help you know what to bring for consignment:  We cannot accept items that have a retail price of less than $20 because it would cost more to process them than we would make on them after giving a percentage to you.  Please note... that store brands of (Walmart, Old Navy, Target, Kohl’s, etc.) - will not be accepted regardless of retail price.

• Please do not bring items with the intent of asking us to help you find and take-back what does not sell (exception: designer / high-end items).  Our pricing includes the cost of going through your items, entering accepted items into our system, tagging, hanging, steaming, displaying, selling, and passing unsold items on to places where they will have a new life.  Helping you find items that did not sell, requires manpower that cancels out any profit, and distracts us from customer service.  Clear your closet and your mind, by letting go before you come to consign.

Pricing & Inventory Sales

• Our Consignment Agreement is for 3 months.

• At the end of the first full month of consignment, remaining unsold items will be reduced in price by 25%.

• At the end of the second month, the price of remaining unsold items will be reduced an additional 25%.

• After the 15th day of the third month, items that remain unsold will be given to local organizations to distribute to those in need.

• We make every effort to maximize the amount of money our consignors will receive. Accordingly, prices may (at our discretion) be reduced more than as described above if we think that they will not otherwise sell.

• The consignor will receive 40% of the sale of each item sold, in cash, or 50% in store credit.  Exception: if an item sells for over $50, consignor earns 50% cash or 60% in store credit.

• Please Note:  Credit for any item that sold more than 24 months ago / 2 years ago, remains available as a store credit ONLY and will not be payable in cash.

• Regarding items that have not sold during your consignment agreement period; items under $50 will be donated.  We will try to call about items we have priced at $50 or more.  If you want to take those items back, you will have 48 hours to do so, otherwise they will be donated.

• M&C Clothing and Gifts is not responsible for damage, theft or lose of any consignment items received, displayed and/or on the sales floor.

Donation Info

• Items that are not accepted for consignment, or have not sold, at the end of the consignment period, are given to local organizations, such as Ecosmith Recyclers and other local organization we partner with throughout the year.  Oftentimes, there are other local, not-for-profit organizations that we partner with that will take some of the donations and put them to good use within the local community.

• If you prefer to get a receipt for tax purposes, the Goodwill Industries Store, in the next shopping plaza, can give receipts for charitable donations. We are not able to give receipts for tax purposes, for the items that we donate for you, as we are not a charitable organization.

Ecosmith Recyclers, Inc. is a for-profit business that takes the surplus clothing that local organizations are not able to take.  You are welcome to place clothing and shoes for all ages and sizes in the Ecosmith bins behind our shop.  Please be sure that the items are clean and dry and packed into plastic bags that tie. Please put only clothing, textiles, and shoes into the bins.  While you cannot claim these as a charitable donation for tax purposes, know that the clothing is getting recycled and creating good karma.  The items are shipped to underdeveloped countries, and may be given away, or may be sold at a very low price to entrepreneurs who are able to have a small income by selling affordable, secondhand clothing in their community.

• Families in Transition

• Bridges

• Various Local Churches

Schedule a Consignment Appointment

Before each Consignment Appointment, review the Consignment Process as it is updated monthly.

• Please note, when looking to book a consignment appointment, if you do not see a time slot available, it means that time slot is already taken. Please use the arrow tab > to scroll a couple of days or weeks into the future to book an open time slot.  Once you have selected a time slot, please click on the Next button to confirm consignment appointment

• Please do not book more than 1 consignment appointment per week. Be sure to read our Consign Page before each visit.

• The reason for the appointment times is to ensure that we are not taking in more items than we can process and sell in the correct season.  If you don't see a time that works for you, give us a call 603-886-6727, we may be able to fit you into a time slot that isn't showing up in this calendar. If you have higher-end items, please ask if we can schedule an in-person consignment appointment.
